Gaslight…
were great tonight, really enjoyed them and I’m glad I’ve finally saw them live.
sadly, it wasn’t quite the perfect gig I hoped it would be. they were excellent at “45” and Handwritten but there were so many songs missing I hoped to hear. no Blue Jeans, Film Noir, Blue Dahlia.
looking at previous nights set lists, especially London, I can’t help feeling that we got stiffed tonight. don’t get me wrong, they are my favourite band and I was always going to enjoy tonight immensely.
but the setlist was definitely top heavy on newer tracks. That’s no bad thing, I know it’s a tour to promote their new album but it wasn’t a very even balance and it showed. and I don’t mind bands doing cover songs when they only have one album and want to play longer sets. but for a band to choose a cover song over one of their own tracks, after four albums, is pretty disappointing.
It’s starting to sound like I didn’t enjoy tonight. I did. a lot. it could have just been so much better. so much better.
